Sparks Posted January 31, 2007 Posted January 31, 2007 Hey, im just looking ahead of time a bit and trying to find out about helicopter groups/shares. Can anyone give me a link to a website with any helicopter shares for sale. Preferably R22/44 or 300/cb. (or anything for the matter.) I have had a look but i cant find ANY ads thus i cant find out anything about the costs, procedures, conditions etc etc. Quote
Sparks Posted January 31, 2007 Author Posted January 31, 2007 Also, if you are in a group please share information Quote
PA Pilot Posted January 31, 2007 Posted January 31, 2007 Also, if you are in a group please share information We put our own groups together. The first was a five-way partnership put together by a retired Army Huey pilot (ATP, CFII in both RH and AMEL), who saw it as an opportunity to get flying again. He found five of us to buy a used R22 and did primary training for the three guys who were not yet rated. About a year ago, three of us in the R22 group along with another pilot whom we knew, put together a second partnership which took delivery of a new R44 Raven II last summer. Both partnerships have worked out well, and have certainly reduced the cost of flying for all of us. The retired Army guy informally supervises both partnerships and does the recurrant training for all of our pilots in exchange for a limited amount of stick time. Quote

If you dont mind me asking, how does it work financially? Did you put in a cut for the chooper? Do you pay monthly? And do you know what it works out per hour? Quote

If you dont mind me asking, how does it work financially? Did you put in a cut for the chooper? Do you pay monthly? And do you know what it works out per hour? The two partnerships work a little differently. For the R22 we each put up 1/5 of the acquisition cost. Usage is billed at $100/hr (wet) at the end of each month. Fixed expenses, such as insurance and the cost of the annual are split equally. Hangar space is donated by one of the partners. We used to charge $70/hr, but increased fuel and maintenance costs caused us to raise the price. The R44 was financed. Each member pays a fixed charge each month which pays for insurance, hangar and debt service. Usage is billed at $200/hr (wet) at the end of each month based on hours flown. We haven't owned the R44 long enough to know whether we need to change the cost/hr. Scheduling for both ships is done on aircraftclubs.com. Quote
