I keep forgetting to ask about this one. American Heroes Airshow. Has anyone been to one? One is coming up in Austin, TX April 21. I am curious about the event.

I wanted first hand info, not just from the promoters, etc.. Just wanted to know if it is worth it to go, since its a 3 hrs drive for me.

my question is, have they done this before or is this some promo stunt by SSH?

I can't vouch for the Texas show, however I hit this one every time it is in Los Angeles...unfortunately last year I was working patrol with LASD, and got a bit sidetracked ( car over the side ate up 3 hours)...I got to the show as the last 2 birds were cranking up to leave...

The LA show is held at the Hansen Dam next to Whiteman airport. About 25 helicopters attend..mostly all government agencies...fire and police, CHP, DEA, you name it, its there....good show overall.

Personally, I would make the drive...this is not an SSH show that I know of....they just always want to be involved wherever they can to help drive credibility ( they try).

Did anyone go to this? I did and was amazed how up close and personal you can get. Other airshows I've been to usually don't let you get closer than a few feet. I got there early to watch half of them come in. The Apache was definitely the big crowd pleaser. Never realized how big it was until I was standing next to it. I thought the R22 was small but the Apache makes it look like an R/C.

SSH brought their sim which I tried. Not much different than the FlyIt sim my school uses. Graphics might be a bit better.

Overall, not a bad show. Smaller than I expected but a good variety of ships.

I had to work again, so I missed it.
