As I have, admittedly, made the mistake of getting involved in a long-term relationship  , I have found myself in a confusing position. Given three choices, where would you choose as a place to live and (hopefully) fly? Tucson is nice, though the only two operations are Silver State and Voyager Helicopters (atleast as far as I know). Silver State only hires from within, and I already have my ratings (except for my CFI, which I will have by the time I move). Voyager is a small school and isn't looking for anyone. I have yet to go to Austin, but I have not found any schools based there. Also, i'm all schweizer time, so this further complicates the problem. And then there is Houston, which seems to me like the best bet due to it being so close to the GOM. So what would you do in this situation? I'm sure this limits my options substantially, as it seems there are more and more Robbie operators, and most CFIs with low time have to move to a job.

Hey,

Man are you guys tired of Orlando? Anyways, Dallas is probably a better choice with all Schw time.

links..

Longhorn Helicopters

Sky Helicopters

Summit Helicopters

Rockey Point Helicopters

All fly the 300 and are in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area.

Later and good luck with the relationship..

P.S. Also forgot to mention that Bell and Eurocopter have plants there, too.

First off, I'm not sure there are any schools near Austin except maybe Brazos. If there are more, I'd like to know because I currently live not too far from that city. I agree with whoever mentioned Dallas. They've got a couple of schweizer schools and the best part is you'll still be in Texas B) !

If you have the extra dough laying around, I'd get the SFAR hours for the R-22 so your CFI ticket is more attractive to potential employers, personally.

There are 2 instructors who fly the 22, that work out of the Georgetown airport. Which isn't too far north of Austin. I can't think of the names right now, but I have it written down somewhere at home. I'll look when I get a chance.

Hey Photo,

There was a company called CFC Helicopters there. Now when you put in http://www.cfcaviation.com/, the homepage comes up Austin Helijet. They still show to do flight instruction and use Robbie's.

Same CFI, so I am going to guess that they changed names or Ray bought out the business. The other CFI at georgetown hangers his A/C at Wright Aviation (Wright Flyers maybe), but I can't remember his name for the life of me.
