Are there many operators of either type in the US or Canada. I know that JB Air in Canada have a Koala and St Lucie County Sheriff in Florida have one but wonder if there are many more around there.

There are quite a few in United States.  CJ Systems Aviation Group has several in EMS. A Koala in Utah, 2 109 Powers in Madison,WI., Duke University in N.C., PennStar in PA., and there are probably more elsewhere.  Careflight in Dallas has 3 or 4 Powers also. A good reference for these Programs is FlightWeb.com as they list over 300 EMS programs and the links to them.

I believe the NYPD (State police) have a contract for 4 119's

Koalas have had a lot of problems with tail rotors, with pieces of them falling off. Crack inspections are required at ridiculous intervals of 5 hours or so.

There's no longer a A119 in Salt Lake. It was destroyed in a crash approx 18mos ago. Less than 50hr total on the hobbs. It had some kind of low side failiure and landed hard with a greatly reduced RPMR. All three on board sustained back injurys and are fine now. There were four of us that went through the factory school but I only logged 3 hrs prior to it crashing. Nice machine...some funny(not ha-ha) characteristics though. Top of the HV curve for zero airspeed is 900ft. According to the book, autorotation initial flare is at 150'AGL! Quite high but the Agusta folks had us flareing much later (of course with the engine at fly). There's a company that has two 119's and has ordered a third in Southwest Arizona...I think TSC (tri-state care flight???)

The tail rotor inspections on the 119 are no longer as advised in the above. All 119's Worlwide had their tail rotor blades replaced after there was a problem with one set. There was a ten then 25 hour inspection required however I believe the replacement blades remedied that.

In response to GUMMY (re the coast guard) you may be interested to know that the US Coastguard have been operating the Power at 3,000 kg MTOW. The external load capability has always been this however, the test flying of the Power has been completed (last week) and it is hoped that the FAA STC will be issued around late September. Most will know the aircraft was always capable of take off at 3,000kg it was the undercarriage that restricted landing at that weight.

I think United Helicopters in Washington State either have a couple or are getting a couple. Jesse

United Helicopters has been out of business for at least a couple years. Unless they are starting up again and I was never informed.
