I will start flight training as soon as I figure out classes, flight school financing and a host of other things. Anyway I already have an AA degree and UVSC told me they will credit all my general ed. Has anyone had any negative experiences with this school? I am about to invest alot into it and would like to hear some positive things about them, I've looked for student testimonials online but couldn't find any. Does anyone have any input, positive or negative? Quote
Sparker Posted May 26, 2007 Posted May 26, 2007 I called with a problem about the website, I talked to a student there for 30 minutes or more, he seemed to really like it, but he didn't do the online courses. The school seems to have a decent reputation for what it is, my only reservation is that it isn't a university, but I don't know how much that matters.... Quote

It is very difficult to be going to school, work and have any time for family. Quote

sky2 Posted August 19, 2007 Posted August 19, 2007 If you enroll with UVSC you will qualify for the loans needed to complete flight training and get a degree at the same time. Together this makes for a nice resume. Quote
shanesplanet Posted August 20, 2007 Posted August 20, 2007 The key thing is to finish it. I see a lot of guys just get the money they need for training then quit the program. I was talking to the office down there the other day and the completion rate for helo pilots is very low. One way I look at it is " What if I lose my medical?" I know it is not something we think about everyday but it is a real possibility. With the degree in hand you at least have an option for something other than McDonalds or door greeter at Wal Mart. I spent a lot of time to walk away from being a nurse to pursue this and I do not want to go back to the hospital anytime soon. Having the degree in hand at least I have some other things to do. It does mean buckling down and working hard I do not think I have had a whole lot of free time in the last couple of years but the end is in sight. I apologise about the rant, but the UVSC program is a resource that will go away if we do not take care of it.Shane Quote
ben_davenport Posted August 20, 2007 Posted August 20, 2007 I have been taking classes at UVSC for just over a year now and I don't have any major complaints about the program. I was able to transfer credits easily and now I only need to take aviation classes. The financial aid department has been helpful and easy to work with. The only complaint I do have about the program is that it based completely on airplanes and helicopter students get to learn a lot about airplanes that we don't really need to know. Other than that, the classes are good. I have found them to be relatively easy, as long as I keep up with my course work. As far as it only being a college, that shouldn't be an issue. Some of the best higher education institutions on the country are colleges. Quote
