Lasik and PRK

I recently "converted" from the world of airplanes to helicopters. (Love it) I have been considering vision correction surgery for some time now, but the military and the airlines always seemed to have a problem with it. What about the helicopter employers? Anybody heard anything?

Army? Not after at least a three month waiting period (not sure about the other branches). There will be some headaches with waivers but no big deal really. Double check to be sure the procedure you want done is on the "acceptable list".

Cheers,

Actually, I just had PRK done about a week ago. So far so good. I little blurriness now and then, but still an improvement and the doc says it will continue to improve over the coming weeks. The best part was that the Army paid for it.

I know for a fact that PRK is more acceptable, at least, to the military. So, if you're going to get your eyes corrected, go for PRK. LASIK has a habit of "undoing" itself.

But, like V5 was saying, you will still need to go through some headaches before you will fly. I hope this helps.
