IgorS Posted July 23, 2007 Posted July 23, 2007 Hello everyone, I haven't posted in a loooong time. I've been busy picking up a private airplane certificate with an instrument rating, and slogging to work every day. But I am flying helicopters again and I have some questions. I was always able to get help here. I just found the post about FlingWing. What a sad thing. He was such a help on this forum. Anyway, my goal has always been to finish my helicopter commercial, instrument and CFII after I got done with the fixed wing stuff. Much to my dismay, my PPL school, Hummingbird Helicopter Service in Connecticut, appears to be gone! At least their website is down and no one answers the phone at the flight school. Bad signs. I've found a school that rents an R44 for $300/hr, and they've got an R22 as well. I flew the R44 over the weekend, very nice aircraft. All of my PPL time was in Schweizers. I've been told I can combine my training hours to add the instrument rating, commercial and CFII all at the same time. It sounds almost too good to be true. However, at the end of this I'll only have a little over 100 hours in helicopters (300 total hours), split between the R22, R44 and the Schweizers. Is this even useful? Would anyone hire me to do anything with that kind of resume? Jack of all trades, etc. If 100 hrs is useless, I'll just take my time and build hours doing each thing separately. I've heard that some of the schools in Florida intentionally split their student's time between the different models. How does that work out for their students? Thanks for any help, Paul Quote
