JLee Posted July 27, 2007 Posted July 27, 2007 I have just purchased a helicopter with two hobbs meters - one is for maintenance - does the maintenance hobbs start running when the engine is started and oil pressure is detected or is it like the Robinson and starts when you increase the collective - I know the other one starts running with the battery on - thanky you for your comments - J Lee Quote
Gomer Pylot Posted July 28, 2007 Posted July 28, 2007 It depends on how it is wired. I can't tell you from here, my eyes aren't that good. Most likely the maint meter is wired to the collective, but it's not a certainty. Quote
Collective Down! Posted July 28, 2007 Posted July 28, 2007 does the maintenance hobbs start running when the engine is started and oil pressure is detected or is it like the Robinson and starts when you increase the collective only the R44 hour meter is set up to run with the collective off the stop. the R22 hour meter runs off an oil pressure switch so it runs all the time while the engine is running. what type of helicopter are you talking about? Gomer Pylot Posted July 28, 2007 Posted July 28, 2007 It's possible to do it lots of ways. The Hobbs just runs off electrical power, which can be switched from any switch, anywhere. Quote
