Optigirl Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 Im going to be building me a utlralight or mini chopper.Ive been going over the designs I like in a few of the tryed and tested designs, I came up with my own design based on them. I have went well over the 254lb mark, And am now looking at something around 340lb empty weight. I have a gyro that has a weak little 60 Rotax in it and was thinking of jumping up to a 100hp engine. I have never used a Hirth engine before and the thing list out well over 6k with a TBO at 1000 hours.thats much better than the Rotax 60 at 300 hours. anyone have anything to add or should I stick with an Engine that has never failed me in the past. ~LD Quote

OK, speaking only for me...I prefer to stick with the non test pilot ships..however if you are so inclined, you may be interested in the weekend coming up at end of month where a rather large group of experimental helo's and gyros gather in the So Cal desert. If you know not of what I speak, PM me for a web link. PS..I'll be the one flying in the red R-44 ! Goldy Quote
