Throughout the course of my training I have been VERY fortunate to be able to devote all of my time to flight training. I got a loan for school, quit working, and have been living on savings to get by. Well...I ran out of money!! Gonna have to go back to work full time. I just started my CFI so I can see the light at the end of the tunnel! Looking for advice from those who have done it. How many days per week could you go to school? How long did it take you? Thanks in advance for any responses.

Getting your CFI shouldn't take you that long, as long as the CFI teaching you is not milking you. There are no minimum hours for CFI, so the instructor can pretty much string you along indefinitely. If that happens, find a different instructor, and don't worry about hurting anyone's feelings. It's strictly business. When I was working on my CFI, I hired a very experienced instructor. By the end of each flight, I felt as if I had forgotten how to fly altogether. After a bit of conflict, I finally got rid of him and got another instructor (who, by the way was only 20 yrs old). This new instructor finished me up in about 10-15 hours of flying, maybe less, and in only about a month.

So keep that in mind and make sure you and your instructor have measurable, attainable goals and objectives that you have to meet to get his or her sign-off. Good luck.

The longest part for me, building lesson plans for the oral. Really transition to left seat shouldn't take more than a couple-three flights.

Dropped my flights down to once every three weeks, sim every week. Sim is just getting used to talking through the maneuvers and practice teaching them (not as expensive as flight).

The simulator is a great tool to use while working on your CFI.
