deanathpc Posted October 6, 2007 Posted October 6, 2007 Well folks today was the day I had my first demo flight. My schedule finally worked with one of the instructors here and it was a beautiful day to fly! Flew an Enstrom 280-F for an hour. I am HOOKED!!!!!!! Now I have to get my license! And after my demo flight the wife and I did a 20 min. tour flight which of course she just loved and informed me that I have to get my license! So she too is hooked! The only thing I did not do today was the throttle and collective. Which was fine. The cyclic and pedals were enough. A little windy today but with the doors off it was still beautiful. My hovering was interesting. Once I registered that I had a death grip on the cyclic and relaxed I did so much better. I had the a/c steady a few times. Then the pedals came into play.. wow.... took me some time once the death grip was resolved.. lol My instructor said he was impressed at how well I did and thought that maybe i'm a natural. I dunno about that.. Was still nervous as hell the whole time. I think over all it went well. I'm sure that once I have the knowledge pounded into my head it will be much easier for me. A little overwhelmed to say the least! I'm still on cloud nine and it's been hours after... It's gonna be very hard saving up the money for the training now. I have a couple other places I can go that I wish to actually visit and see their operation before I settle on who I'll give my money too. I have all here to thank. I haven't posted much but I have read a lot of the posts here and done some reading of the books that were posted on here. Quote

I strongly suggest you contact Helicopters Anonymous and get help. There is no know cure. Fortunately your wife is supportive of you during your addiction. Quote

deanathpc Posted October 9, 2007 Author Posted October 9, 2007 Welcome to the club! The addiction only gets worse Great... and I'm addicted now so I have something to look forward to! At least I have the support of my wife on this. At least until I really start getting into the training. Although she survived me going through Paramedic school so maybe it won't be that bad.. Or at least that's what I'm telling myself! Quote
