Hey, I saw that video of the reb bull B.O. 105 doing loops and everything else. Is this aircraft still airworthy after this, or Do all rotors and transmissions have to be destroyed after something like this. is this helicopter modified? and if it is modified what components are.

They only have to destroy it if it flies over Minnesota.

Sorry, Wisconsin born...lil rivalry there...or too much cheese.

Nope, they dont destroy or replace anything, just lots of maintenance like any other ship. There are only a few ships that are rated for these manuevers, and even fewer pilots that have the rating to fly them in that manner....

Pretty cool stuff though, isnt it ??!!

A Hughes 500 series can do some of those manuevers as well....but if you do them you void the aircrafts certificate.....What I meant to say was, I have HEARD RUMOR that the 500 can do some of the same tricks....(there, thats better).

(edit)- Oh BTW, I dont think anything is modified on the B105, except maybe extra barf bags installed. Just one tough ship....designed back in like 1964 I think ??

"Design

The four-blade hingeless main rotor with composite blades ensures high maneuverability. All main systems (hydraulics, electric, fuel, lubrication) were designed to be fully redundant."

It's all in the rotor system man. ;)

So I'm too lazy to do a google search on specifics at the moment, but is it safe to assume that the -105 uses pressurized dry sumps and such, or is the hang time just short enough to provide proper lubrication the to turning bits?
