New Hampshire Aviator Posted December 4, 2007 Posted December 4, 2007 Hi, I am looking for some guidance as to how I might finish my commercial rating in a very concentrated scenario. Here is my lucky situation: No work until January.Plenty of moneyPlenty of Marriott pointsPlenty of frequent flier milesPassed writtenHave two more night solo hours for commercial requirements. 300+ total hours with fixed wing, 100+ hours helicopter.Completed Robinson Safety Course last month.I want to finish with R44 Raven 1 or 2. No Astros.Currently immersed in commercial oral prep I want to get this done quickly and want to stay on East Coast. This process is starting to drag out. Winter operations are not ideal for what I am trying to accomplish so I will go south. Please email me with any suggestions or proposals as I am ready to make a commitment. Thanks,Stevenhav8r@comcast.net Quote
jehh Posted December 8, 2007 Posted December 8, 2007 You shouldn't have any problem finding that... Plenty of schools now use the R-44 for instrument, I'm sure most would be happy to use one for the commercial. If you decide you want to come West to Texas, let me know and we'll hook you up. Fly Safe! Quote
helonorth Posted December 8, 2007 Posted December 8, 2007 I spoke with a guy in Florida about some R-44 time last week. His name is Richard Cook and he isa CFI with a R-44 that goes for $330 an hour dual. Didn't get what model, but at that price Ididn't care. He is about an hour north of Tampa near Wildwood Fl. His number is 813-716-6773.e-mail... richard@flybyranch.com Quote
kodoz Posted December 8, 2007 Posted December 8, 2007 Check out East Coast Aero Club...http://www.eastcoastaeroclub.com/content/fleet. I flew there all winter fixed wing, and the only problems I had were with them leaving the planes out in the ice and snow. And, their 44 is $299/hr wet. That'd be $50 more per hour than i'm paying for R22 time.... Quote

Helo-Pilot Posted December 11, 2007 Posted December 11, 2007 Jason, how do you figure your in WEST Texas? Quote
Gerhardt Posted December 11, 2007 Posted December 11, 2007 Jason, how do you figure your in WEST Texas? He has a "to" between west and Texas. And since I like to point out mistakes of others (not so much my own) he might have said "south to Texas". Or "southwest to Texas". Quote
jehh Posted December 12, 2007 Posted December 12, 2007 Yes, and Texas is generally West of the East Coast (Northwest of Florida, but that is getting nit-picky), which is what the original poster said he wanted to remain on. I didn't expect he'd be interested, there are plenty of options over there. Quote
Helo-Pilot Posted December 13, 2007 Posted December 13, 2007 Sorry for the misunderstanding. Just thought I would poke a little fun ! ! Quote
