67november Posted February 22, 2009 Author Posted February 22, 2009 Well I'd say by all measures we had a very successful meeting. Mother nature wasn't the most cooperative, it starting snowing yesterday afternoon, much heavier in the southern part of the state. by this morning there was 1-2" in northern MN and 6-8" in very southern MN, the morning skys were a bit ugly but the promise of better weather later in the morning kept things optomistic. I left my house in St Paul at 7AM and as I drove north things improved. 3 hours later I pulled into KBRD the sun was breaking through the clouds and it was looking to be a great day. I headed into the terminal and 1badz32 was already there, not long after arriving I hear the squak of the lead pilot of 3 birds making the call of 15 miles out, inbound from the NE. I was glad to hear that call, the fly-in part of the meet was on. Well the birds started landing and the drive in folks are entering the building and soon our group swelled, a 4th bird landed shortly there after and our group for this years meet had all arrived. We had amassed 14 people for the meet. As the pics from 1badz32 shows we had 4 R22's arrive for the meet. now some shots from my crappy camera From right to left;a Student from Northern Helicopter, Mattcobb, Choppr Tom, MN Heli Flyer. From left to right;1badz32, Ironranger, Dominis, a student of Northern Helicopter, Kropte, and his wife. and finally the last student from Northern and her instructor the 4 R22's sitting on the very frosty ramp air temp was 17*F Quote

AngelFire_91 Posted February 22, 2009 Posted February 22, 2009 Dang!! I wish I would have been able to make it, looks like there needed to be a turbine ship there, 206 represent!! lol. Unfortunently I had about 4 students that needed to fly today since the weather got nice late morning. Looks like you guys had a nice time though. Quote
1badz32 Posted February 22, 2009 Posted February 22, 2009 Yeah, thanks for organizing this 67Nov. It was a good time. We really should try for a summer time meet. It was good meeting up with everyone. Quote
ironranger Posted February 22, 2009 Posted February 22, 2009 Thanks again 67' for putting together the nice meet. It was a lot of fun meeting some new people and getting together with friends. The flight home was a little slower due to the winds and weather but we all made it home safe and sound. Quote
Kropte Posted February 22, 2009 Posted February 22, 2009 Thanks for putting that together 67, it was nice to meet some new people and learn some new things.Sorry for the hasty retreat I meant to come back in and shake some hands, but I got the "Let's get going now." right after our preflight and once we finally got it started we got going right away since we had some real up and down weather on our route back.Looking forward to doing that again and hope the weather decides to cooperate earlier and for the entire day. 1badz32 Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 Nice ride you got there Kinda looks like you and the guy in the other lane weren't even in the same class the way you walked on him. Thanks man-This was a wensday night event, which is pretty much just track time. There really isnt any organization to it, just line up and run.If you want to race someone in particular they'll pair you up, otherwise its just random matching. Quote
