deanathpc
I've read here people talking about hooking up cell phones and like an IPod to their headsets but what about Satellite Radio? Anyone using that at all?
Autorotator
My boss has this in his plane with all the subscriptions. He likes it. He brought it with us on a flight in the helicopter during a storm and it worked very well. We were able to see where the thunderstorms were ahead of us and were able to avoid them. We didn't listen to the radio channels though. --CM

I was wondering how well they worked! Maybe a X-Mas present or "passed my checkride" gift! lol
Gomer Pylot
Satellite radio should work fine, as long as you can keep the antenna with a good view of the southern sky. The same cable you would use for your mp3 player will work.
gft
I've flown using a friend's Garmin 496 with XM music.Works great, kind of nice to have some tunes on a cross country flight, especially if your flying solo. gft
Gunner
My father and I installed XM in our Mooney. We alrady had a built in audio jack so we just mounted the receiver to an empty spot on the panel and have the antenna up on the dash. This was a very cheap solution for under 50 bucks... (minus subscription fees) I did get a call from ATC once asking if everything was OK as I answerd back in to a call in hysterics since we were listening to the comedy channel... Best channel for a long XC!
Gomer Pylot
If you're willing to take a basic radio, you can get one for free. The XM site has the offer. You have to pay the subscription fee, of course. I have a Samsung radio that records several hours of radio, which I was paid to take out the door. Circuit City had it for sale, and the rebates were more than the price I had to pay. I really ike the ability to schedule a channel to record at a certain time, for later playback. There are programs I like, but I'm often working when they're on. The player portion is very small, about like an mp3 player, and comes out of the base, for listening anywhere.
