Witch
Well, after some time of begging my spousal unit to go on a flight with me, she finally went. She's not really into the flying thing-not acrophobic, just rather not get into the air. She was a trooper though. While on the takeoff, she was grabbing her seat which blocked the collective from moving up. I got her to move her hand by nudging it with mine. It was a little windy-10 knots-and so a little bumpy. That was a little disconcerting as she didn't know whether it was I that was causing it or just wind. When turning, that made her nervous enough to say "Oh sh!t" several times. I can empathize with her because it's a little unnatural to lean in a turn when one is used to turning in a car where it doesn't lean like a motorcycle. We were going to go to Monroe and head Northwest but the rain looked to be a little heavy, so we turned early to avoid the weather. As we fly north, the weather gets a whole lot better, so we went West a bit before heading for Philomath and back to Corvallis. The whole time, she took pictures. I have a few to share. Remember when I told of the demise of N2341J? I found her in the corner of the hangar. This did nothing for her confidence of a safe flight. A little South of the airport, we came across this crop circle. We figured it was done by an alien spaceship that landed there so it could mutilate some cattle. The odd thing was that the compass was spinning like crazy and there was an odor of lobster bisque. Wierd. You know, this is the first time I've ever seen a rainbow from the air. Cool. Coming in to land after our 45 minute flight. I'm still wondering if I'm allowed to use this approach to Charlie, or if I was supposed to land on the other side of the ramp. I'm sure someone will tell me at some point. By the way, Bob is in the way. MOVE BOB !!!!! A special picture for Aaron. I know he really likes those cranes, and so here's another view. So, there you have it. Some photos my wife took on her first helicopter flight. Maybe I'll get more from her later. me shakes fist
Don't have a hanger? No problem! Just roll your R22 under one of these Skycranes for safe, overnight storage!
Witch
Sparker-the camera is a Fuji S700. I saw it at Radio Shack for $229. I found it at buydig.com for $180. buydig.com has a lot on neat electronic gadgets. Goldy- Polycarbonate. Me shakes fist-I've seen a photo on an R-22 under a Crane. I wish I knew where it was. Funny thing happened last night. She asked when we'd go flying again. You see, it's funny because she's not really a flyer and it seems she liked the flight enough to want to go again. I guess she really trusts me to not get us killed? I'm analysing this too much. Later
Voluptuary5
Witch, I remember you posting when your favorite 22 went down. I'm sorry if I missed it but what were the details? Thanks for the pics, -V5
Witch
I'm looking for the link. Can't find it right now, so from what I remember, it was basically settling with power. Ah, here it is. http://www.ntsb.gov/ntsb/brief.asp?ev_id=2...01584&key=1 Yeah, I'm bummed. To see her in the corner of a hangar was not a good thing for me. But alas, she was a good bird to fly. Voluptuary5
Thanks Witch, I can't be 100% certain but after seeing those pictures, I'm pretty sure that was the first helicopter I ever flew in. -V5
