negative balance Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 (edited) Does anyone know what if anything is going on at HeloWerks and their WASP helicopter?Helowerks.comA thorough evaluation has been made of the HX-1 WASP helicopter airframe following the recent pilot-induced engine-out accident. Based on the results of this evaluation, the management of HeloWerks has decided to continue the WASP helicopter program. This two-part program includes the development of the two seat, turbine powered kit-built helicopter and the aggressive search for financial partnerships to provide the capital to begin production of the helicopter kits. I was just wondering if any one knows anything more about this cute little chopper. I know its a Carter Aviation design, and claims a speed of 500MPH.Nice ! Ive been to there WebSight a few times, But does anyone have anything else to add?I bet Goldy knows ! he loves this sort of stuff Carter Aviation Technologies Sorry to Hijack your thread ~LD Edited December 20, 2007 by negative balance Quote
Rosewood Posted December 20, 2007 Author Posted December 20, 2007 I am taking it back! I have read their (Helowerks) web site but it hasn't been updated since August. So, I am back to my original question, does anyone have the inside scoop on the WASP? Quote
Goldy Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 I am taking it back! I have read their (Helowerks) web site but it hasn't been updated since August. So, I am back to my original question, does anyone have the inside scoop on the WASP? No inside scoop on the WASP, other than they are looking for financing just like every other start up. IMHO the Wasp just looks like a turbine Rotorway, there are three other wanna be birds out there that look like the old Bell 47, and the other ship from the former USSR which looks like a 300... Carter at least has a unique design, is solving the various challenges unique to his ship, and I think, shows the most promise of any of these ships. Bottom line, I love going to the shows and seeing all these cute little bugs, but you wont get my fat ass into any of them. I'll stick with traditional pistons..22, 44, 300, 47's !!! Goldy Quote
negative balance Posted December 23, 2007 Posted December 23, 2007 I emailed Tony and he sent back this reply. Tony Pena of HeloWerks writes: The HX-2 Wasp is currently in the paint shop getting a custom candy paint job for the up coming season. She has all of the new upgrades including the NASA/Langley crash tested landing gear and energy absorbing seats tested early 2007.She is the only helicopter in her class that has gear that exceeds the impact velocity of a certified Helo. She also has a new oil cooling and delivery system. We will be selling our first HX-2 in 2008. I will be custom building them for exclusive buyers until I can afford to go into full scale production. Rosewood Posted December 23, 2007 Author Posted December 23, 2007 Thanks N.B. I hope Tony posts some more info on his site. I am getting close on deciding which kit to purchase and a two place turbine that is affordable (I know that's a relative term) is much preferred over a single place but...... Rosewood Quote
