SHLove
So, I live in the Louisville KY area and the only flight school remotely close to me is JR Aviation in Sellersburg/Clarksville IN. I took my intro flight and absolutely loved it, however, doing some searching on this website I have found no positive feedback about the school, only one or two negative comments which worries me. Basically, I was wondering if anyone had any first hand experience with JR aviation or could share their thoughts? It's possible for me to move away for flight school but this is not my preference. Thanks,-Simon

Thanks,-Simon I am also looking at that school (I live in STL). I went out to dinner with James Robinson the owner here in STL a month ago and he seemed like a nice enough guy. What was your impression of the school/facilities? How many pilots are currently in training? How many CFI's are there? How many aircraft are at the ready for training? How many total hours of flight training did they give last year? Also, is James Robinson related to Frank of Robinson Helicopters?

To be honest I don't think my opinion means much since I am new to it all and I have never been to another flight school to compare/contrast but.... The school was nice, clean offices and waiting room, big hanger...I think I saw somewhere around 3 R-44's and 3 R-22's, and a big fixed wing jet. I only met one CFI, don't know how many there are exactly, but hi s name was Mike and he was a super cool guy. He has over 1000's hours he just teachers for the fun of it. The mechanic, Steve, was really nice also, and seemed like he knew his stuff really well. I also don't know how many student pilots there are in training, or their total hours of flight training (sorry). But if there are things I don't know about (I can't find any reviews of the school online) that make it not a good flight school to go to, I would like for someone to share their knowledge if they have any. I am willing to travel away from home if the school is not adequate.

BowmanAviator
so how did your flight go?? Awesome! I loved it. I have 2 more lessons set up this week. Jim Robinson did my intro flight. We did 0.6 and I was able to hover briefly (like 20 seconds :-) with all 3 controls before he took back over and we headed back. I hope to be able to get out of Louisville though, and head south to a flight school full time. Too many distractions here! Just need to rent my house and sell my Arrow!
