Montanamack Posted January 20, 2008 Posted January 20, 2008 any ideas on solving ground hop on enstrom 280fx Quote
67november Posted January 20, 2008 Posted January 20, 2008 contact Enstorm, they should have an answer, or at least you can make them aware of your problem. Customer Service/Support ContactsPhone number for all contacts: 906-863-1200 Quote
apiaguy Posted January 20, 2008 Posted January 20, 2008 When is it occuring? During run-up? At flight rpm flat pitch? As you begin to pull collective? Only options are going to be strut maintenance or rotor track and balance. But depending on when it occurs will give you the clue to what the problem is. Quote

BOATFIXERGUY Posted January 20, 2008 Posted January 20, 2008 One of two things... your struts have too much pressure in them or you need to bleed the dampners. You can isolate this pretty easy...For dampners: When you're preflighting the blades, if it's not smooth when you "lead and lag" them there's air in the dampners. Also, If in forward flight you get a "lope," then it's the dampners. Bleed them. For the struts, pull down on the tail. It should squat a little. I've seen A/P's over fill them. If it doesn't squat...too much nitro. Enstrom has in the manual the correct settings, but it really needs to be fine tuned for what you normally do with the bird. i.e two vs three passengers. john Quote

If that the case, you have a binding somewhere in a landing gear pivot point. I just recently returned from enstrom maint school and they stressed oleos and binding in a pivot point somewhere in the ldg gear being a culprit for ground bounce that goes away when you get light. Of course damper bleeding can fix just about any problem. Them dampers sure are maint hogs. Quote
