Hey everyone, it's been awhile since I've posted. Here's the deal. I have stopped helicopter training, and I'm finishing up all of my FW ratings. I had 90 TT in FW before I started with helicopters, but as I said, I'm going to finish FW, and I would love to come back and get my RW certificates. So, my question is, what are typical RW add-on requirements for PPL-CFI/CFII? I've looked all through Part 61 & 141 in the FAR, and I've checked out websites, but I couldn't find anything that gave me the answer I was looking for. I thank-you for your help in my question!

All your really saving is the cost of the writtens. You still have to fly to commercial standards and that takes experience, have knowledge of helicopter specific items getting ground school, and take all the same checkrides minus the cross-country unless they decide to test you on that also. The cost of the checkrides should be a little less but don't expect any huge savings.

If you hold a F/W commercial you will not have to do the helicopter Private requirements or checkride. You can do a commercial add-on. The requirements are spelled out in Part 61, but they are a little hidden. Basically 50 hours of helicopter, 35 hours solo/PIC, 5 hours night solo, 10 hours solo x-c and a dual day and a dual night x-c. There are no time requirements for the CFI or CFII add-on's. The helicopter Instrument add-on is 15 hours. You will have to do the Helicopter CFI and CFII add-on exams.

God luck.
