Does anybody know that if I was to convert my FAA commercial certificate to a mexican certificate will I still be able to fly in the US when I return if I was to go fly in Mexico? Will I have to take additional test or do I keep my FAA certificate and have a mexican one at the same time. A little confusing I know. Any answers would be great. One more thing, does anybody know how to get a mexican commercial certificate? I have dual citizenship (US and Mexico). Thanks

I don't think it's a matter of "converting" or surrendering. From what I understand, the Mexican Civil Aviation Authority has to be willing to recognize your license and grant you a license with the same privileges. For the U.S. to buy off on a foreign license, it has to be issued by a country that is contracted with ICAO. If the Mexican authorities are willing to grant you a certificate with commercial privileges, I don't think it requires you to surrender your U.S. issued certificate. I would start by contacting the Mexican aviation officials and first see if they will allow it.
