lelebebbel Posted January 31, 2008 Posted January 31, 2008 http://www.spiegel.de/video/video-26471.html filmed in austria. Apparently some RC-flyers got tired of standing on the ground, so they built this thing.I want one! Quote
PhotoFlyer Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 Sounds like a flying weed whacker... Looks like one too Quote
FlyNHighNFast Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 I'll take a pass, the airframe did not look the least bit crash worthy. Quote
Goldy Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 I'll take a pass, the airframe did not look the least bit crash worthy. I will too. I have a strict rule where I dont fly anything with less horsepower than my bathroom fan! Quote
WingsToRotors Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 Looks like a cheap way to log PIC (Pilot Insane, Certainly) time! I wonder what its autorotation performance is like. Probably something you only have to worry about once. Quote
darwin Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 I will too. I have a strict rule where I dont fly anything with less horsepower than my bathroom fan! A little .50 cu-in nitro engine can easily crank out upwards of 1.8 bhp (what I recall that an OS50SXH is rated at)Such an engine is what is commonly used in entry-level RC helicopters. http://www.jason.net/heli/racing.htman OS21RZB (.21ci) 2.3HP, 30,000 RPMor OS61SXH-WC (.61ci) is 2.2BHP, 18,000 RPM Note.. that is a 1/5 of a cubic inch displacement engine.. cranking out as much power as a lawn mower engine! Fun stuff, eh? Quote
Cruzin Chris Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 That thing cost $35,000 and doesn't have the ability to autorotate! I'd love to have one as long as I didn't get above 10 feet AGL. Quote
Autorotator Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 Noy coming up for me. I searched through the vids and didn't see what was talked about. --CM Quote
