SunHelo Mark Posted February 20, 2008 Posted February 20, 2008 (edited) What do You paint blades with? how long does it last on leading edge?Gloss or mat?the cheaper the paint, the less it lasts.. a good epoxy based semi-gloss or gloss well prepared will last awhile (maybe a month depending on how many hours your flying). nothing lasts forever! southernweyr Posted February 20, 2008 Posted February 20, 2008 imron - 1 hr - gloss A very good question. I have been looking for something that last a little longer. Quote
500E Posted February 20, 2008 Author Posted February 20, 2008 southernweyrUs also, the Imron lasted about 15\20 hours on leading edge with the 500s blade speed the paint comes off real quick even with the max amount of blade tape, at least we don't have to worry about the blades pealing due to lack of paint, someone suggested the paint used on plastic auto parts like spoilers that is flexible Quote
apiaguy Posted February 21, 2008 Posted February 21, 2008 first a wash primer (on metal blades) then an epoxy primer then 2 coats epoxy enamel finish (flat) no gloss except tip stripe on upper surface then I use a touch up gun at every 25 hour inspection and dress the outer +/- 5 feet.... (very light)The touch up has never created a problem with track/balance. I'm not a big believer in any name brand... i've used them all with equal success. Quote
