The BIG Boys

Recommended Posts

I was looking around on the net and i found this picture of a Mil Mi 26 lifting a Chinook... B) The proportions look pretty much like a Chinook lifting a 300. So I started thinking "I wonder how many people on VR have flown something this big...?" :)

So the question is "What is the biggest helicopter you have flown??"

I once hoisted a really fat guy from a Navy SH-60B.

Edit: OK. OK...I'll keep to the subject...

I have one flight in an MH-53E. It was a cool benefit of being the Mine Warfare Officer when I was on a battle group staff. I didn't get to pull a sled or anything cool. Just fly up and down the beach.

PIC, SIC, or PAX??

SIC, which is why we couldn't do anything like tow a sled, etc... I have lots of time as a pax. Another part of my job on the battle group staff involved working with the Marines, so I have lots of trips around Camp Pendleton in the back of a CH-53E.

Is it really that dangerous to tow the sled in the Sea Dragon?

Well, it sounds like you had a good run... Are you still in the Heli industry?
