On the clutch switch...what does the hold portion "hold"? is there any times you use it other then when in the starting mode? <_< Thanks ahead of any comments

Well, whatcha flyin'?

The TH55/Hughes-Schwiezer 300, the clutch switch has 3 positions: Off, or something like that (disengages, releases tension until the clutch motor hits the back stop); hold (no drive either direction, holds the tension applied); and "on", or something like that, where the motor applies tension until it hits the stop).

Engage the rotor, lock the switch "on" and leave it until you're ready to stop the rotor driving.

You're probably flying a 300 with automatic rotor engagement. On the older models you had to put it into the hold position to let the engine catch up its RPMs otherwise you would bog it down and possibly stall the engine. If the automatic rotor engagement system ever breaks, you'll need to use it.
