Restoring a TH-55A

Recommended Posts

Dear all,

I am in the process of rebuilding a Hughes TH-55A helicopter. It had been used as a crop duster and now I want to turn it back into its original paint. That is a grey frame, grey interior and orange on the outside. What I need is any information for the correct colors.

Kind regards

I know a few guys have tried in the past to get those colors correct... haven't seen any ships that have the exact orange.... I've got lots of parts with that faded color on it... Something could be polished up and then have a paint shop do a custom match... that costs $$.

Was your helicopter used in South Carolina as a crop duster?

You should contact Jerry Staggs in Weatherford TX... his is as close as I've seen. And he has lots of parts he is willing to sell.

Thanks guys for the replies. I have understood in the meantime that FSB595A is the correct color reference. Still does not tell me e.g. what grey is the correct one used. I browsed the web for pictures and at least in my opinion a lot of the restored TH55s have been done with incorrect colors. For example I don't think they used white tubular frames like the civilian 269/300c but grey ones. And the frame color is the one which I need first as I will start rebuilding soon.
