Jacknife Posted May 21, 2008 Posted May 21, 2008 Anyone had any experience with Upper Limit Aviation (Salt Lake) or Universal Helicopters (Provo)? I have taken intro rides with both operations, like them both. ULA seems a bit more relaxed with a flexible schedule and a simulator(benefit?).Universal has some friends of mine, less crowded airport, and seems to have an excellent chief.Anyone else train at either and what did you think? btw, love the forum, it keeps me excited while I keep looking under rocks for $80k! (tried to let it go two years ago but flying just keeps coming back to haunt me) JK Quote
Heli-cop Posted May 22, 2008 Posted May 22, 2008 Hey Jack, thanks for the post. I'm also currently investigating Northern Utah flight schools. Having not yet attended either, I can't really offer you advice on Universal or ULA, but....I have read some things on these forums about Universal that would turn me off persoanlly. Do a search and you should be able to find the same complaints about them that I did. Concerning Upper Limit, so far I'm impressed with everything I've found. My only worry is the busy airspace and extra time to taxi out to the areas where you do your actual trainning. Anyway, keep posting! I'm learning alot from all you guys, and good luck! Quote
Privateer Posted May 23, 2008 Posted May 23, 2008 Any reason you haven't looked into Utah Helicopter? They have locations in West Jordan and Spanish Fork. For me I liked not being at a towered airport all the time, but being close to one for the practice is great. I'm going to guess that like the other schools you don't pay any $$ up front, you get a bill for the previous week. Good luck wherever you go. Quote
Copterpilot213 Posted May 23, 2008 Posted May 23, 2008 Hi Jacknife, I had a friend in Universal until recently. One important thing to keep in mind is that at this point you will have to do your CFI training somewhere other than Utah unless they change things. She had to come to Arizona to do it. I'll ask her to give you direct feedback as I don't like to do the "he said she said" thing unless I have to. Quote
jaskins Posted May 23, 2008 Posted May 23, 2008 I am a current student at Upper Limit and have nothing but good things to say about my experience so far. If anyone has questions regarding any topic what so ever, please send me an email at jaaskins@maxhealth.com or just give me a call at 435-901-2659. Quote

I looked at their website but just picked those two that I thought looked the best. I am assuming you trained with them? How was your experience? I am still looking at my financing options, ULA has classes through SLCC that may be a similar advantage that UVSC gives to others. Thanks JK Quote

I had heard you had to go to Arizona for two or three weeks but not all of the CFI (or maybe it is only that short of time?). I would really appreciate hearing from someone that is no longer in there. Thanks JK Quote
Copterpilot213 Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 Ok JK I'll get in touch with her soon and let her know about this thread. Quote
