tattooed Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 (edited) No injuries. http://www.katu.com/news/local/20002704.html I loved that ship. When I heard about the crash this morning, I said "I sure hope it wasn't 4000y!" *Edit: HAI = Hillsboro Aviation, Inc. Edited June 18, 2008 by tattooed Quote
heligirl03 Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 So what's the scoop? Any immediate info? Glad they're ok. Quote
BOATFIXERGUY Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 That sucks. At least they're ok! Frank is going to be busy...lots of robinsons going to the junk yard lately! Quote
tattooed Posted June 18, 2008 Author Posted June 18, 2008 Sorry, as of now, I do not have any additional info. Rory is a CFI out at our Troutdale campus. I"m sure the rumor mill will make it's way around.I am VERY glad to hear that both pilot and pax walked away. Curious to see if it was indeed an engine failure. That hill is such a slope, that I'm guessing they made an emergency landing. Darn. There were a few other ships I'd rather have seen crashed other than 4000Y Quote
joker Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 Why is this thread entitled 'HAI Helicopter crash'. Surely it should be entitled 'Hilsborough Helicopter Crash'. I'm sure HAI (Bristows or Helicopter Association Internationl) won't be too pleased to see that. Anyway, mainly glad to hear everyone is alright.... Joker Quote
tattooed Posted June 18, 2008 Author Posted June 18, 2008 Cuz we're HAI (Hillsboro Aviation, Inc.). Quote
JDHelicopterPilot Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 First, I am glad to hear everything turned out well. It's been a wild month huh? I'll admit when I saw "HAI" I thought of Helicopter Adventures Inc, the new Bristow Academy. Quote
joker Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 (edited) Well now that HAI is Bristows, the acronym HAI is once again up for grabs. And quite a good one to jump on if you are a flight school!...if you see what I mean. (Never heard of Hilsborough being called HAI when I was at HAI - Helicopter Adventures) Joker Edited June 18, 2008 by joker Quote

tattooed Posted June 18, 2008 Author Posted June 18, 2008 I'm so glad people are fixating on HAI vs HAI, and not that a defensless R22 was destroyed, and that 2 people walked away.....very lucky....nice piloting!!!!! Quote
C.R.O. Good point. Really though, there isn't much to say yet at this point, except that it's good that they are both okay. Too early really for speculation regarding what the cause was. Quote
joker Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 (edited) Without the benefit of inside information, there is nothing else to fixate on other than a picture of a wrecked ship and two people who walked away. How am I to know it was 'nice piloting'? It could have been terrible piloting for all I know. I say again, I'm very glad they walked out relatively unscathed. What more can we say at the moment. I don't do the 'speculation' stuff publically. I have my supicions as to the cause, just from looking at the wreckage, but will keep them to myself. Let's wait until solid information arrives (which I'm sure it will) before we fixate on this crash. In the meantime, we can amuse our minds by fixating on the similarities of the names and the confusion it causes. Joker Edited June 18, 2008 by joker Quote
tattooed Posted June 18, 2008 Author Posted June 18, 2008 Dude, TOTALLY amused....but then...those who know me (conor!) know that I am easily entertained. Quote
Goldy Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 Gee, I thought R22's had a windshield/bubble on the front of them ???? This one seems to be mysteriously missing. Quote
ADRidge Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 The windscreen is "inop" I'm glad everyone walked away from that one. I dislike speculation, personally. I'm not an accident investigator and I'm only a PPL. I know enough to know that I don't know jack. A guy I know balled one up with a student, but not that bad. From that picture, it looks like the survivors might want to think about Vegas. Quote
C.R.O. Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 Gee, I thought R22's had a windshield/bubble on the front of them ???? This one seems to be mysteriously missing. Yup. But, they walked away, and that is the only important thing. Helicopters can be fixed or replaced, people can't. Quote
tattooed Posted June 18, 2008 Author Posted June 18, 2008 A tiny bit more info.... http://www.gazettetimes.com/articles/2008/...coptercrash.txt If you take a look at the 1st link I posted, there is a tiny little video camera icon where you can view a short video of the crash scene. There you will see the bubble. Quote
1badz32 Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 I don't do the 'speculation' stuff publically I'll speculate.... It looks like the heli hit the ground, then it may "or" may not have tipped onto its side.Since everyone is ok, it's safe to joke. IMOA good landing is one you can walk away from, a great landing is one where the aircraft can still fly! Quote
tattooed Posted June 19, 2008 Author Posted June 19, 2008 I like your attitude! And I agree with your "speculation". I still haven't heard any updates. ALso, I haven't been to school since Friday. I'll bet the rumor mill is going crazy! Quote
