NorCalHeliKid Posted June 19, 2008 Posted June 19, 2008 I sent an email with a resume to the HELICOPTER PILOT OPENING advertisement on this site. What I got in return was a 4 paragraph email that follows: My company, Pawnee Aviation, has been developing helicopters since 1995. The original goal was to produce a kit to compete with the Mini 500. After six single-place prototypes were developed with two cycle engines we determined that two cycles and helicopters were not a good safe mix. Several larger single-place prototypes were built with Porsche engines. Also not a great power plant and airframe combination. Our present model “the Chief” utilizes a GM racing engine. The Chief development has required that we design and build everything from the skids to the rotor blades. Design work was provided from NASA and a number of universities. The resulting product is a helicopter that can compete with any reciprocal engine design. The Chief has a 1,000-pound payload and extra horsepower for emergencies. The high inertia rotors have a 2.4 second reaction time designed in. Our kit only requires 150 to 200 hours to complete. Our goal of safe, rugged and economical helicopter has been achieved. The position would require a pilot who can do demonstration flights and work closely with customers. Pawnee does plan to do flight instruction for our customers at a later date. Pawnee is located in Longmont, Colorado just Northwest of Denver. I have attached a flyer with photos. Please check out our website www.pawneeaviation.com Kind regards, Ron Willocks In addition I recieved a 2 page Adobe fire attachment of a run down of all of his helicopters....In my opinion this man has crossed the line and is wasting peoples time!!! I hate the fact that there are so many operators out there who can not go about marketing using honesty and integrity. Get this guy out of here. Quote
PhotoFlyer Posted June 19, 2008 Posted June 19, 2008 I guess I'm not understanding. Did he want to sell you a helicopter kit, and then have you give demos? I'm not really getting it... Quote

Well apparently you missed you three paragraphs of advertisement before that and the 2 page attachment with a marketing pitch that is trying to sell his helicopter kits...yeah sounds like he wants pilots....who will buy his stuff. 67november Posted June 19, 2008 Posted June 19, 2008 hey kid, ya got attachments for the rest of the story?? Quote
NorCalHeliKid Posted June 19, 2008 Author Posted June 19, 2008 Absolutely, I can do that. I would have done it earlier but honestly it us just more free exposure and marketing for this guy...oh well.Pawnee_Flyer_June_08_1_.pdf Quote
Goldy Posted June 19, 2008 Posted June 19, 2008 Absolutely, I can do that. I would have done it earlier but honestly it us just more free exposure and marketing for this guy...oh well. Oh, its free marketing all right, but in the text of this post...its not exactly "good" free marketing. I think you made your point loud and clear.....now its time for Admin to go to work. JDHelicopterPilot Posted June 19, 2008 Posted June 19, 2008 To me anyway, it seemed like he wanted you to know a little about the company. Granted a little overboard I think. He could have spent more time on what your job details would be. Not sure if he was trying to advertise though. JD Quote
Wannabe1 Posted June 19, 2008 Posted June 19, 2008 I agree with JD... It would seem he felt the need to assure prospective hires that his company was real and that his machine was legit. I'm betting that most pilots lose interest once they realize he wants them to fly an experimental, a new experimental that has about 100 hours on that particular airframe in total. If you are not interested, just say no. Quote
DynamicallyUnstable Posted June 22, 2008 Posted June 22, 2008 I also agree with JD. Seems to me that if they want you to do "demos" and work closely with customers, they would want you to know what you're dealing with. Relax man. Quote
FUSE Posted June 22, 2008 Posted June 22, 2008 I'm agreeing with the above posters... I don't think he crossed the line or is wasting folks time, but it's hard to say exactly without knowing what the original job advertisement said. All I see is someone that is explaining the helicopter that you would be flying and a bit about the company you would be working for. Information I know I would want to know if I was going to take a job anywhere. Quote
