Optigirl Posted September 5, 2007 Report Posted September 5, 2007 I was reading today a story about a pilot who went out of his way from the time he first arived to Vietnamtell the last day there. It was about a pilot and crew who worked so hard to repair and keep there UH-1 in the air. they had spen 4 years together and not a single person ever assigned to them died while in there care. the amount of love and respect they had for each other and the aircraft intrusted to them by the US military.the bell Uh-1 was a living breathing team member and they would take great pride in keeping this machine in tip top shape. The amount of work and level of skill was awesome. every check completed and nothing was ever over looked. Well as Saigon fell the navy had to make room I guess for the crews and people leaving that country and had to make room on board, so they dumped all the UH-1s and other craft over board into the delta. the story followed these men to that day. OMG how freaking mad would you be if you went out of your way like that only to have her dumped over board. I do understand why, but damn... I lost internet connection today for a few hours and cant remember how I came across this story, and I wasnt done reading it, so if anyone has a link to it or knows this story could you point me to it. thanks ~Lana Quote
