USMCGRUNT Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 Can I please get some feed back from people who attended Embry-Riddle that already had their ratings? Is it worth the money to get the BS in Professional Aeronautics? And if you already obtained a private, instrument, and commercial rotorcraft about how many transfer credits will that be good for? I also sent in my Smart transcripts from the service to apply those transfer credits as well. I just want to make sure that it is worth the money if someone who already has the flying portion done (Currently full time LEO Pilot)and seeking a degree for career development? And I hope the advisors will set me up straight to complete it as fast as possible. Thanks for any help available...... Quote
arotrhd Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 MC- I finished the ERAU Grad program thru extended campus (MAS w/ 4 specializations in '02); I can't provide an opinion for the pro-aero undergrad program, other than through a few subs & guest lectures I was asked to do...I did undergrad at a different school and I completed my r/w & f/w ratings outside & I didn't need the credits. Was it worth it to me? After the grad program, I was able to take advantage of some newer opportunities that would not have been available without the degree, and things were at lot easier with the ERAU name ...it wasn't immediate, but it has easily returned my investment in time, effort & $$, especially with the economy. Prolly another mo betta part of the school - imho - is the network developed with classmates - these can , the background/experience level of the instructors and immediate school name recognition. Lotsa doors and windows opened and I now have many fallback options, should the 'something' happen. Can some other schools provide something similar for less? I 'spose, but again, the name is easily recognized and it's not a "where's that at?". I'm sure some other Eagles here will pipe-up about their experiences as of late, as there are a few who hang out here. Shoot me a PM and I'll try to get you in touch with one of the guys I graduated with (retired ALEO from a LE org in the LA region). He's still instructing and could provide some opinions and guidance. Semper Fi. -WATCH FOR THE PATTERNS, WATCH FOR THE WIRES- Quote
