swisster Posted April 25, 2011 Posted April 25, 2011 Hey all,I am trying to find out what it takes, and if it is even possible to convert a FAA PPL Licence to a JAA PPL? Can this be done here in the US? What does it take?Maybe someday I would love to do some flying back in Switzerland (where I grew up), but taking lessons over there is vastly more expensive than here in the US. I know that the Swiss do recognize JAA PPL Licence. Thanks for your info. Swisster Quote
warmkiter Posted April 25, 2011 Posted April 25, 2011 HI Yes, it can be done. Problem is, that every JAA country will have different requirements for the conversion. I have a German ATP(A) and got a FAA CPL(H) and wanted to get an european PPL(H). The germans did not recognise much of any previous licences i had. I did the JAA conversion with the english CAA. Very friendly and very professional. A couple hours for the checkride preparation and checkride. 2 subjects written, easy going. The checkflights and all paperwork was done with Sloane Helicopters in Mallorca, Spain. I will do the CPL(H) conversion this summer there too. Blue skies L Quote
