coptermonk Posted December 29, 2011 Posted December 29, 2011 Hey all first poster here looking for help in finding new hand held GPS. Apparently Lowrance has chosen to no longer support their aviation gps with updates, which is sad because I thought it was a simple and effective tool. I know all about the Garmin's but am looking for input on others out there some of you may have used that are ergonomic and user friendly so I can make a wise choice for the company I'm with. I'm not adverse to the Garmin product simply looking for a cost effective alternative. Quote
Shaun Posted December 31, 2011 Posted December 31, 2011 I love my GPSMAP 96C. It is a Garmin however. You can find cheap GPS's on ebay. For mounting RAM mounts are awesome. Quote
rotorgoat Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 If you have room the EKP-IV (7" screen) can be picked up on eBay for around $700. It has a track up-moving map and has all the airspace data plus terrain. Quote
AIRWOLF4LIFE Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 Ipad 1 3G, get a 16GB on craigslist for around $350 and get fore flight or wingx Quote
