EdDarack Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 Thank you very much in advance to anyone who can provide help. A friend is a UH-60 pilot, deployed in support of OEF. He has a GoPro Hero 3 Black, and asked me a question about microphone placement / sensitivity. He is very busy, so I'm doing some research for him. I know very little of the GoPro, but was hoping someone on this forum may have used that specific model (Hero 3 Black) mounted to a helmet. Here is the question he sent to me:what is the best way to incorporate audio into my gopro vids. I am concerned about the mic sensitivity of lapel mics as they are designed to be placed approx. 10-12 inches from the sound source. Keep in mind, my mic will be less than an inch from the sound source which is the earcup speaker inside my helmet - I plan to put the mic inside my earcup resting at the bottom of the earcup after I have donned the helmet. Is there a way to "dial" down the sensitivity of a mic so close to a source? Hero 3 Black (not the newest Hero 3+) Again, thanks to anyone who has information on this!Ed Quote
DESmole Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 Tell him to forget the Mic idea. Go to mypilotstore.com they sell splitters that hook your gopro into your ICS and records all radio transmissions. That's what I use in 60's and it works great. NSDQ Quote
