zamber Posted July 11, 2016 Report Posted July 11, 2016 The VA not counting active duty National Guard helicopter pilot training as time served for eligibility for National Cemetery burial is ridiculous. There is an enormous amount of months spent in training. Add up all the time in schools, recycle, hold times, etc. The reason this came up is the National Cemeteries are being overrun with civilians. Congress recently added even more categories of civilians recently, certain civilian cargo transporters and adult children. In my opinion, it is wrong to be turning away so many honorably discharged soldiers for burial, then taking civilians. It is especially wrong to discriminate against National Guard helicopter pilots because they spend so many months in dangerous training. http://www.cem.va.gov/burial_benefits/eligible.asp https://nationalcemetery.wordpress.com/ Quote
choppereng Posted July 11, 2016 Report Posted July 11, 2016 I believe the states have specific military cemeteries that NG vets are eligible for. Not sure that that helps, but there you go... Quote
