ldbelton Posted September 26, 2016 Posted September 26, 2016 We have a 269A that is used in our avionics program. It is totally unairworthy, electrical training only. It is very hard to move around. What is the length, bolt hole center to center for the struts when properly serviced? We are going to remove them and block them up, and build a better dolly to move it around on. Quote
takefootoff Posted September 26, 2016 Posted September 26, 2016 Go on Craigslist, find a low rider and put hydraulics on it!! Boom...full motion sim Quote
Guest pokey Posted September 27, 2016 Posted September 27, 2016 if you have the struts, i would recommend that you take an appropriate size of PVC tubing, extend the strut to max ( don't even have to remove them from the helicopter), cut the tube to the proper length minus maybe 1/8", then? Slice the tubing down the center to make 2 halves, then put on the strut and secure with 2 hose clamps. This way you will keep the ship all in one piece if one should decide to ever make it airworthy again. Oh? you may want to put some kind of 'preservative on the strut prior to clamping on the PVC ( i would recommend para-ketone) Quote
ldbelton Posted September 27, 2016 Author Posted September 27, 2016 Low rider sounds good but I like the PVC idea better. I am sure the students would like the low rider though. Thanks for the input. All is appreciated. This aircraft will never fly again. Unfortunately, its next stop will be the scrap heap but I don't see that any time soon. It is too valuable to our program right now. Quote
iChris Posted September 27, 2016 Posted September 27, 2016 (edited) Make your best estimate between the numbers. 12.93" extended, 9.43" bottom stroke. Edited September 27, 2016 by iChris 2 Quote
ldbelton Posted September 28, 2016 Author Posted September 28, 2016 Thanks. That helps a lot. Now we have a starting point. Quote
