AndrewT Posted November 28, 2005 Posted November 28, 2005 wow, thats probably the nicest Rotorway I've ever seen, too bad you have to sell it Quote
Unit74 Posted December 4, 2005 Posted December 4, 2005 I have always wanted the 162F.........Your ship is unbelievable.....!!! Quote
jtravis1 Posted December 4, 2005 Author Posted December 4, 2005 Thanks for the nice compliments. I believe it will meet my reserve of 90K...any more then that is just a bonus. The ship is alot of fun with ALOT more power then a R22. But it is still an experimental. If I had no commercial interests, I would never sell it....but it has to go. Quote
Rob2k Posted December 4, 2005 Posted December 4, 2005 Good luck with the selling, and it seems that your reserve has almost been met. I'm going to be watching the rest of the bidding to see where it closes off at, but be sure to update this thread with what it goes for if I miss it! Best of luck,- Robert Quote
jtravis1 Posted December 5, 2005 Author Posted December 5, 2005 Well my ship sold. I went for 90,100. This was more then I was expecting. I had fully well planned on losing at a minimum of $20,000 as is typically the case in a Rotorway. I had a bidder that was willing to pay 110,000 for the ship! His computer locked up at the last minute and he was unable to bid. He called me as soon as it ended and told me that I if the bidder does not come up with the money, he will buy it for 100,000 CASH! This is not going to be the case however. I just got off the phone with a very nice gentlemen from Lynchburg VA. He has a friend there who has been playing with Rotorways for years and will be helping him with the ship. So I am happy that he is in good hands. What does all this mean? Not less then an hour before mine, another 162F went for the usual…(under 50K). It was a nice ship with updated Prodrive 40mm shaft with 125 hrs on the ship. I think my ship selling for what it did is a real sign that Rotorway missed the boat. All of the higher bidders expressed that they loved the Rotorway but they wanted more power reserve. Many were owners of Rotorways in the past. There is demand out there and people are willing to pay to get what they want. This is also a sign to those guys out there building and still on the fence of going turbine or not. If this is a sign of anything, it shows your money is safer in a turbine. Maybe with the Jet Exec we are seeing something like we see in other well made kits. A market that you are able to recover your investment if you so desire. I think this sale is a good thing for our community in general. It sets the stage for future sales. I am sad while at the same time excited to move into another ship. I am looking at a 04 Beta II right now, which I believe is the route I am going to choose to go. I will be putting the ship in the stable with my friends Raven and making a go at it. Quote
