New to this site and just looking for info. I am looking to start flight training soon and had a question. I have a local facility that does flight training through CFI. However, all of their training is done in a 300CBi. On the jobs forum of this site, I see tons of prerequisites for time in an R22/44, but not a single one for time in a 300CBi. Should I be leary of an operation that does not use the R22/44? Is it going to set me back down the road if I choose to make this a career?

Sorry if this question has already been asked on here. As I said, just a rookie here. Would appreciate if anyone could provide me with any articles, thoughts, or opinions on this subject. Thanks.

Hello and welcome to the forum.

Your question has been asked many time (that's alright it happens a lot and I've done it several times), but just use the search feature next time. Type in for example 'simulator' or 'trainer' and you should get a lot of topics. I'll post a couple of links so that way you can hopefully find the answers to your questions.

An interesting topic on the R44- http://helicopterforum.verticalreference.com/helicopterfor...=better+trainer

Frankly, I don't think it matters. Yes there are more Robinson's than there are Schweizers, but that shouldn't change your mind about a school that would really work best for you. I know pilot's who have gotten their CFI-I job before they finished their CFI-I training in the S-300 and the same thing goes for those who have flown in the Robinson.

I will post some more links later if I find any more, but I hope that these help.

That's because the FAA and Pathfinder Insurance both require stiff minimums for Robinson helicopters.

When I began training, I flew both the R-22 and the S-300 CBi. For me ther was no question that I though the CBi was a better helicopter to train in.

I am planning on getting checked out in an R-22 once I have my licence, though. There are just too many of them out there. So I believe that I better know how to fly them.

Please note that this advice is from a guy with over 5000 hours fixed wing and 13.5 in a helicopter. So the advice is worth what it has cost you to read this.
