caldy Posted August 26, 2006 Posted August 26, 2006 Hi all Looking to work in the states for the winter months. Thinking of getting FAA licence and wandering what the conversion would entail. With the new security is it possible to get a work visa anymore? Would I be better off doing the conversion in canada or going to the states. Thanks in advance Quote
West Coaster Posted August 27, 2006 Posted August 27, 2006 Give the folks at either BC Helicopters or Pro IFR a call. Both do FAA conversions. Quote
flyboy7910 Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 I did my CPL-H in Canada a few years ago then went to Arizona to get my FAA CPL-H and my CFI. It is definitley cheaper in the states. ie....S300C goes for between $260 and $300 per hour in the U.S. and a Robbie is even less than that. Can you get a work permit?....yes, but you will have to allow several months in advance to get the paperwork done. It might go quicker, but leave the extra time. If you want to look at Arizona for CPL-H and your CFI license, send me an e-mail and I can give you a little guidance to get through the process. On the web, we're at SpiritRotorcraft.com. I'm the first name on the list. Quote
