rollthbns Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 Hi all. I was wondering if there exists a mentoring program for new pilots, and for new pilot wanna-bes. I think this site offers a lot of great advice in that area, and may well serve the need all by itself. What I was hoping to find was an independent source, someone in the industry with experience to offer up ocassional advice and direction with respect to career moves, planning, etc. New students and pilots alike could really benefit from something like that. Are there any programs that exist? Would anyone here be willing to get involved in something like that? Thanks in advance for information and comments! Quote

Mitchell99 Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 We are putting together a program at our school that involves several more experienced pilots who come in and do a question and answer period with our students. Right now we have one scheduled about once a month. We have pilots from 10,000 hours to ones who have just left the instruction ranks, so the students can get a wide range opinions and views of the industry. All the pilots come from EMS, ENG, Utility, Offshore, Movie, and the Tour industries, but several have done many other jobs besides what they do now. Hopefully having these pilots come in will help each of out student find out what type work they want to do, and the route to arrive at that goal. Ed MitchellMountain Air HelicoptersLogan, UT Quote

Ed MitchellMountain Air HelicoptersLogan, UT Nice! that sounds like a great program. There are a few high time pilots at my school as well, and their perspectives are invaluable, but they are a part of the school. I would love independant opinions as well, opinions and advice that wasnt tied to my training dollars. Good luck there in Logan! Mark Quote
