wrknprgrs Posted July 24, 2007 Posted July 24, 2007 I have been a CFI for the past year and a half with out a job. I have just over 200 hours and I am pretty much restricted to the schweizer 300C or R-44. Does anyone know of any places that will hire 200TT pilots. Most insurance requirements for new CFI's are required to have 300TT. I am at a loss as to what to do and my dreams of flying seem to be slipping away if I am to do it the RIGHT way and not fudge my hours, which seems to be the norm in the industry today. Anyone have any ideas as to how to get my career up and going again? thanks! Quote
jehh Posted July 28, 2007 Posted July 28, 2007 I hire 200 hour pilots all the time, and so do a lot of other schools. Your comment about the "restricted to the 300C or R-44" caught my attention. If you are too heavy to fit in a R-22, you're too heavy to work as a CFI outside of perhaps 4 or 5 schools. Padding your logbook at this point won't help you either, mostly due to how rusty you probably are after 18 months of not flying helicopters. You'll probably need to invest some time and money in getting current, if nothing else. BTW, I don't think "padding hours" is the norm in this business. No one really looks at your logbook anyway, since it is so easy to do just that. They take you flying, and your experience shows. Good luck... Quote
