jqenjoynlife Posted August 18, 2007 Posted August 18, 2007 Hey Gang, First of all I just want to say hi and thank all of you for the great information that I've been reading about here on the forum. I'm a newbie that is trying to do all of my reasearch through the worldwide web on several Helicopter forums. Does anyone know about Rotor Aviation in Long Beach California? Which is located at the Long Beach Airport All responses will be greatly appreciated. Ive checked out Civic Helicopters at Palomar Airport Carlsbad, CA - Helistream at John Wayne Airport Costa Mesa, CA and Rotor Aviation at Long Beach Airport. They all seem like good school I have read positive feedback about Civic and Helistream but nothing about Rotor Aviation.Personally my reviews with all three had plus and minuses Ranging from price (big factor) LOL, distance/location, ground school facility, and other personal concerns. Thanks in advance! Quote

Thanks in advance! I know nothing of Rotor Aviation. If you want to fly Long Beach, I would check out LA Helicopters. Mike is a very professional guy, well known. If you want to fly in the SF Valley, then I would check out where I fly out of...TwinAir. VNY airport is a great place to fly out of. Long Beach isnt bad, just really busy with what seems like 12 runways going every direction! I flew out of there last week, and ended up just doing a straight out climb at 40 knots until I hit 300 AGL...I kept getting told by the tower which runways I couldnt cross....so I bascially just departed straight up ! Wherever you end up, study hard and fly safe. Goldy Quote

Thanks in advance! The only helicopter school I know of out of the LB airport is universal helicopters. I personally do not recommend them due to promises not kept and large amounts of my loan disappearing that I never got back. I was also over charged by the instructors. They also have two other locations which are in Scottsdale, AZ and Provo, UT. Quote
Mike Murphy Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 Don't know about Long Beach but I'm a former military guy getting my currency back at Civic. I fly with Dave V and so far I like the operation there. Quote

tdogg1048 Posted April 19, 2008 Posted April 19, 2008 If you do get the chance, check out Civic Helicopters again. They have moved since last year. I was interested in getting my private license there, and had also looked into a few other schools. When I went to check it out, I was very impressed with the appearence of the office as well as the level of experience the CFI's had.
