Tweedles Posted September 4, 2007 Posted September 4, 2007 I agree with you captkirkyota. I have a feeling your post was not meant to support mine (#19), but I find that your comment "...as long as one does not get all big headed about it..." supports my intent perfectly. I'm all for sharing information and views, but I found the way in which other folks' information and views were dismissed to be a little abrasive. There certainly is no minimum fermentation time required before one's views become worthwhile. It's all in the delivery. Tweedles Quote

Tweedles No problem, we be coo an' stuff.I personally did not read an attitude in his post though, so that is where we just read it differently, but I also come from the point of view as the original poster does, I began to make this change at 37, I'm now 38, one of the things I did not discover RIGHT OFF THE BAT, was how mobile I would have to accept as a very likely part of this new career, so for me, a post like Oh Andy's would have been nice, it still would not and did not change my wife and I's decision to do this, but we would have had more of a deciding talk before I had even invested in my first discovery flight, because had it been a factor to not do, the couple hundred bucks spent would have been nice to put toward something else. That's all, and because of my point of view, that is prolly the reason I did not see his post as a bit less than humbly presented. Thanks for replying, I was not directing it directly AT YOU, but I was inspired to just ask everyone to ponder as a result of your post, and posts similar on other forums I've been long standing members of. Only the other forums were much more rude and down right nasty about how long they thought a newb had to know something before sharing what they now knew. This place's class and tact and clear level of adulthood is a very appealing part of this forum, so to you and for that matter to all, my personal thanks for acting like adults toward your fellow mankind. IFLY Posted September 5, 2007 Posted September 5, 2007 I'm making the switch at 50 but I have Military retirement to make my house payments for me. Tired of being computer support for a law firm. My wife acually got me started and let me take a second on the house. Personally I don't care if I make enough to offset the cost of training as long as I can pay most of the bills until I can get the real job in 1000 hours or so. I just want to fly and Heli CFI's make just enough to let me do it. My wife is a pilot and my daughter soloed at 14 in a glider so they understand why I want to do this. Got my private last Oct and my Instrument in Aug, just waiting on my checkride for Commercial then CFI before Dec. Quote
