Dave3188 Posted September 5, 2007 Posted September 5, 2007 Hey everyone, it's been about a year since my last visit. Basically, I've been working and saving as much money as possible. Right now I have about $5,000 put back, just doing contruction work off and on. I lost focus on my goal there for awhile, but now I'm back at it. Right now, I'm trying to get a decent job where I can save something like 20k a year or better. Was just curious if some one could give me a average price on PPL? I did some research and it looks like it's going to be around $11,000. Does that sound about right? I'm looking to get my training somewhere around Indiana. Thanks. Quote
zemogman Posted September 5, 2007 Posted September 5, 2007 I'm about to solo...and I think it will be $12K to 15K when it's all said and done. That includes simulator, ground, books, materials, gear, and $280 per hour in a Schweizer. $11K is possible...but I think you should plan on a bit more for PPL. My .02 cents... Quote
spencer Posted September 5, 2007 Posted September 5, 2007 Another way to save money is to be motivated. For example, lets say you are going for PPL. There is alot of Ground stuff to know ecspecially if you are starting from scratch. If you really bust your a** to learn the stuff on your own time, then that is less time you have to buy going over it with an instructor. As i saw from your profile that you are a young guy. I know as well that being our age we hold are friday and saturday nights dear to us. So keep in mind that when you want something bad enough it doesn't matter what day or night of the week it is. Just for reference when i went for my private it cost me right around 12,500. Quote
kodoz Posted September 5, 2007 Posted September 5, 2007 Might depend on your school...a 141 school might run you more. Or less. Get your ground done now and be clear when you go in...show you know you're stuff and don't waste money on ground lessons you don't need. For your flight, I was at 12,500 when I soloed, but after that you have 3 x-c flights, proficiency in your autos, and off-airport landings. That could run you a bit more. Don't plan for a minimum. --c Quote
