Ok, taking my check ride next week, then gonna start instrument training in the R-44.

I am wondering if it would serve me better to fly the 44 at the factory course since I will still be, or have JUST gotten done flying the 44, BUT, I also want to be the best instructor I can for the students I will train someday and so am also thinking that maybe being shown just what can be done in the 22 might be better since it is harder to fly than the 44. What do you think?

If your going to teach in the 22 I would fly the 22 at the factory. Thats why I flew the 22 while I was there, had 1.5 on the hobbs when we started up. I learned a lot in just that one flight so I plan on going back again in another year or so to fly with one of their instructors. Somewhere on a thread someone said one of Robinson's pilots have a school at that airport.

I will be instructing in the 22 and the 44.

Fly the 22. Simon who is a robinson safety course pilot also has a flight school based out of the same airport where he provides instruction. I flew with him during my time there, and I learned allot.

If you dont have a lot of time in the 44, dont fly it at the course, it will be more like a demo ride. Fly the 22, and learn in the 22...no poll needed, that advice came straight from the Robinson chief pilot to my ears.

Have fun down there, Goldy

That's kinda what I thought. I should have around 25 hrs in the 44 by the time I go to the factory, but I'll then be working on my commercial and cfi's when I actually get down there in the spring, so it prolly will be best just to 22 it.

Thanks.

Hey there,

Fly the 22 (and sign up for that course already if you haven't). i asked a few of the guys around the school and they concur that it's best to fly what you'll be teaching in most. that, and the 44 is so much less volatile than the 22.

good luck on the ride
