IceWater Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 Hello everyone, I'm currently a student working on my IFR Ticket and interested in NVG training. I still have a great deal to learn about aviation and the trend of the helicopter industry and there has been discussions at my school about a growing need for NVG use and the possible demand for NVG qualified pilots in the near future. This sounds very interesting to me because I'm very interested in EMS or Law enforcement field. Would it be a good idea to take the NVG course? I ask because there is a school that will be part 141 certified in the near future that offers ground school, and uses a R44 for NVG flight training, which makes it much more affordable than using a turbine helicopter NVG trainer. I plan to accumulate 25 hours in the R44 anyway so I can make the minimums to teach in a R44 during my commercial training with my VA benefits. Sorry if this has been discussed, but I couldn't find any information in the past Thanks ahead of time! Quote
K-38 Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 My 2 cents. Keep working hard, and continue your training. Get your certs and become a C.F.I. Put in your time and learn as much as you can as a CFI. Then go get your first turbine job. If at that point you in your career you feel that the N.V.G. training would be beneficial to you than take the course at that time. Quote
Mike Murphy Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 Our company uses NVG's and we do all our training in house. Save your money for now, chances are that whoever you work for that uses NVG's will have their own training to put you through. Quote
