Ways for new pilot to break into Fire fighting/EMS world

Hi, I am a pilot in training in New Zealand. My goal is to one day work in either the EMS or fie fighting fields. Any ideas on best ways to go about it, training I can do to increase my chances and How can I get a break into the US for employment as there are not too many options here in NZ. Any help would be great.

Try "Whirlygirls" in search. It's a womens helicopter pilot group here in USA.

 

I'll try to think of her name, but she's known as "Red Boots" in the fire industry here. I flew along side of her a couple of times and was impressed with her abilities. She's a Brit, but she may be able to give you some pointers on fire training for women.
