fstbk272
So I have a set of brand new h10-76's, and I want to use them in civilian helicopters. I know they will work by changing out the Mic to an Electret mic.... question is, is the 1142-22 Electret mic the only one that will work? Or can I use other model electret mics? Thanks - Roger

Thanks - Roger The 1142-22 is a generic high-impedance electret microphone. It’s a direct replacement for the David Clark M-7/DC or Pilot Communications USA’s PA-5X., both of which can be used on metal/wire boom type headsets like the H10-76. Basically, you’re look for a high-impedance amplified electret microphone that can be mounted to the end of a metal wire type boom. You could also use your H10-76 as is (with its current mic) with the aid of a low-to-high impedance converter cable/adapter, cost $50 - $90. Pilotmill.com had one for $53, about the same price as a replacement mic. That's a second option were the H10-76 remains intact. I wanna go with the mic option just to keep outside clutter down. Just wanted to know if I was only restricted to that one replacement mic or not, as I don't particularly like the way it looks. ha. Thanks for the info. - Roger
r22butters
If its brand new perhaps you could exchange it for the H10-66 (my old headset) it has a built in high/low mic switch?
Guest pokey
this post reminds me of my 1st learning to fly (fixed wing 1st), cessna 150 with speaker from a 1940's radio, and hand held mic. ANYTHING is better than that.
