RockyMountainPilot Posted November 3, 2008 Author Report Posted November 3, 2008 VRS is alays settling with power(SWP), but SWP is not always VRS. You can also be in SWP when you don't have enough power to hover and you sink, but you are not in VRS. Quote

airdoggy Posted November 7, 2008 Report Posted November 7, 2008 (edited) If the aircraft will hold a HOGE, you have to estimate the power to leave the LZ safely, and determine if you have sufficient exit power available. In the Astar, 1% NG equals 200 lbs; 1% TQ is 70 lbs., and then pull the power to ensure you don't bust a limit in the climb. Wally or anyone? How did you figure this out?(1% NG =200lbs and 1%TQ=70 lbs) I assume from experience, but is their a way to break it down mathmatically or with a chart? Also, are you talking about a B3. Thanks.
