StanFoster Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 I know I am speaking to the choir here....but I come from a gyroplane background since 1985. I am building a Helicycle and just obtained my helicopter rating. One of the first things I realized while taking my helicopter lessons...was just that sense of a new dimension flying helicopters is. For the first time I dont need airspeed to keep me aloft I can now land at many places I have been needing at least 35 mph to flyover in my gyros. This is so cool.....and fixed wing pilots and many of my fellow gyro pilots just dont understand this , until they go experience it for themselves. I live out in open flat country in Illinois, and have the perfect environment for helicopter flying. I should have my Helicycle in the air in March. Stan Quote

Lindsey Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 To hover is devine great addiction ain't it One of my friends thought we counted "experience" in terms of mileage, not hours, and I had to remind him that helicopters hover! We can be "in the air" for an hour, and never go a single mile! Quote
